Dentures

Dentures
Dentures are removable appliances designed to replace missing teeth and support everyday functions such as eating, speaking and smiling. They may replace a few teeth, a full arch, or be designed to work with remaining teeth or dental implants.
Partial dentures replace selected missing teeth and use the remaining teeth for support. Full dentures replace all teeth in an upper or lower arch. In some cases, implants can be used to improve the support or retention of a removable denture.
Denture planning considers more than the space left by missing teeth. We look at your bite, gums, remaining teeth, facial support, appearance and how you use your mouth. Several appointments may be required to record these details and check the fit before completion.
New dentures can take time to get used to. Speaking and eating may feel different at first, and small adjustments can sometimes be needed as your mouth adapts. Dentures and the tissues underneath them should continue to be reviewed even if you no longer have natural teeth.
In many cases, removing dentures overnight gives the supporting tissues a rest. We will advise you based on your individual situation.
Over time, the mouth and jaw change and dentures can wear. Relining, adjustment or replacement may eventually be needed to maintain fit and function.
