Exam & Hygiene

Exam & Hygiene
Regular dental care is about more than finding problems. It is a chance to understand how your teeth and gums are tracking, keep your mouth feeling fresh, and deal with small changes before they become harder to manage.
We begin with a conversation. Tell us about anything that has changed, any sensitivity or discomfort you have noticed, and any concerns you would like us to look at. We then examine your teeth, gums, bite and surrounding oral tissues. Where clinically appropriate, we may recommend dental X-rays or other records to help us see areas that cannot be assessed clearly by eye alone.
Your hygiene care is tailored to what your mouth needs. Plaque, calculus and surface staining can be removed, and we can show you practical ways to improve brushing, flossing or interdental cleaning at home.
Dental and gum conditions can develop gradually and may not cause obvious symptoms at first. Routine reviews allow us to monitor changes over time and discuss them with you early. They also give you an opportunity to ask questions rather than waiting until something hurts.
There is no single recall interval that suits everyone. Your dentist will recommend a schedule based on your current oral health, gum health, decay risk, previous treatment and other relevant factors.
Not necessarily. X-rays are recommended when they are clinically useful, taking your history and current findings into account.
Please tell us. We can explain each stage, work at a comfortable pace and discuss ways to make your appointment easier.
