Bridges

Bridges
A dental bridge is a fixed restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth. It spans the space and is supported by neighbouring teeth, implants, or a combination determined by the clinical situation.
A bridge can be considered when there is a suitable space to restore and appropriate support is available. It may be an alternative to a removable denture or dental implant in selected cases.
With a traditional tooth-supported bridge, the teeth beside the gap are prepared to support the replacement tooth or teeth. Impressions or digital scans are used to create a restoration designed to fit your bite and appearance.
Because the replacement tooth is joined to its supports, cleaning underneath and around the bridge is important. We can demonstrate floss threaders, interdental brushes or other tools that may make daily care easier.
They are different approaches with different requirements. The condition of neighbouring teeth, bone, gums, medical factors, treatment time and your preferences all influence the decision.
There is no fixed lifespan. Longevity depends on the supporting teeth or implants, oral hygiene, bite forces and maintenance.
